I lived on Penacook Street in the 1970s and 1980s. There was a ghost that came up from the cellar and would pound on our walls and door; tap on our closets, roll the shades up, knock over our toys and anything else we left in the hallway to the cellar.
Real mean. He would wait until we fell asleep and then assault us with his noises. Growled occasionally and rattled chains twice. The neighbors from all over would come over to experience it and many came away with experiences.

We finally got tired of it and had the Catholic church come and exorcise this monster. No more ghost as of 1980. I went back to the dirt cellar of this old house years after we moved out and found human bones buried in a shallow grave.

This all started when I lived on the west side of Manchester. I always felt that I was being watched in that house. My washer and dryer were in the basement and I was doing laundry one night. The basement had open-walled rooms as if the old owners were trying to make a TV room and a bathroom before they left.
