In the 1970s four of us were in a car on that shortcut road from Route 46 to East Avenue in Hackettstown behind the Union Cemetery. As we were going by the cemetery we saw a woman walking in a long flowing white dress around the tombstones. We all saw her and we just either thought she was crazy or one of those stone rubbers. But it was around midnight so why would she be doing that at that time of night? You could see the wind blowing her dress and it was creepy.
|
Then sometime later we found out that a woman's ghost has been seen walking around the cemetery late at night. Some called her the ''white lady'' and others called her the ''Union Cemetery Ghost.''

And there were stories that she sometimes hitches a ride with people and a mile or so down the road she just disappears from the car!. Submitted by Kathy
