Some of the many men who died building the Raritan Canal and were buried along it have come back to haunt. My daughter saw one of these men at the canal a few years ago and she has been scared to go back there ever since.
My daughter is a grown woman and very tough, this was the only thing that I have ever seen her be scared of in adulthood. She says the man stood there at the canal and seemed to be staring at her. That in itself might have been scary,

but then he suddenly turned into a dark puff of smoke and blew away with the with the wind.
