I lived in Medford for practically my whole life, up until recently. Honestly, every house I've lived in in Medford has creeped me out, and I've experienced something in every single one. I have a few stories about my dad's house that I will post next.
Anyway, when I was around 13 my mom and I left my childhood home and moved into another house in Medford, in a neighborhood near Stokes Road. I always got a very weird feeling about the house. The attic was especially terrifying. The house was always creaking, and I always heard so many strange things, especially when I was alone. Almost everyone in my family would say that they got a strange feeling in the house.
The attic would constantly make noise. I've heard what I assumed to be footsteps many, many times walking from one end to the other repeatedly. One thing that happened the most often is I would hear a man whistling a song outside of the bathroom door whenever I took a shower. It sounded like he was pacing up and down the small hallway outside of the door, waiting for me to come out.
Another thing that happened a few times was hearing a knocking sound from the outside of my house. It was as if it was on the outside walls and not the front door. I would just be lying in bed then suddenly hear a knock that would start at the beginning of the wall in my bedroom and stop at the end of it.
The most terrifying thing I have ever experienced happened in this house. One night in 2012 my boyfriend at the time and I were watching a movie at about 3:00 am. Afterwards we decided to get a snack in the kitchen. Keep in mind that we had turned the TV off when the movie was over, so the house was completely silent. Out of nowhere we began to hear moaning coming from the attic, and it got increasingly louder. I know this sounds terrible, but it sounded like someone was being abused. I remember my boyfriend and I completely stopping whatever we were doing and just staring at each other in disbelief. A feeling of true pure horror rushed over me. I had never felt something like that before. After it stopped, I broke down and started crying. I was terrified, and so was he. Afterwards we went to check my mom's room to see if maybe it was her TV, but it was off, and she was sound asleep..
That boyfriend of mine (who lived with me in that house) had always claimed that he felt something there, and that it ''wanted him out. '' He refused to go to the kitchen at night because he said that whenever he did, he felt a cold wind brush by him, followed by a very uneasy feeling.
I've tried asking my mom numerous times if anyone had died in the house before us. She would just tell me that she didn't know. She said that all she knew was that the man who owned the house before us passed away, and she didn't know if it was in the house or not. She was always very weird when I asked her if she had experienced anything in the house. She would just brush it off, sort of. It was as if she didn't want to talk about it.
I moved out of the house in 2016 when I was 20. I am now 21. I still drive by the house sometimes, but I can't help but wonder why the woman who bought the house from us still hasn't moved her stuff in. The house looks completely empty.
