I lived in a house on the Saddle River from 1966 to 1974. We definitely had a presence. An older gentleman with a cat. Never felt threatened by him. Doors and windows left open, footsteps all over the house, appearances in windows seen from outside, creaking floorboards, and the sounds of a cat.
We didn't have a cat, only a dog. House was built in 1735.

Around 6 am one weekday morning I awoke to the sound of my dog growling. She stared fixated at a corner of our bedroom. Without opening my eyes I ''saw'' the figure of a spirit a man with a handlebar mustashe relatively tall standing there.
He told me through thought pictures - no words - that he was run off the road while riding his motorcycle on grove Street. Whether forced off by a black car or avoiding a deer it was hard to tell. I became afraid then and he shrugged his sholders smiled apologetically and slowly vanished like a waterfall upward.
