I moved to Roselle in 1992 with my mom and stepfather. My mom had a restaurant, and my stepdad worked far away, so I was home alone most of the time. I had just moved there from a large apartment building, so I was used to hearing the noise from other apartments, so when I would hear things I would just be like ''oh, that's the neighbors.'' That was until it finally dawned on me that we stayed in a one-family house. Things I would hear was the toilet

what I heard, and they assured me that I had nothing to worry about. One day I came home from school, and as soon as I opened the door I heard a chair in the kitchen being moved away from the table. I never walked in. It was about 4 o'clock in the afternoon. My parents were gone I was on punishment at the time, and my mom told me to come straight home and don't leave the house for anything.
