I often wonder if there are any ghost sightings at or near a home on Railroad Avenue. After I was married, my folks and my little brothers moved in there. When Mom died Dad had her cremated and brought her ashes back home. Dad put the ashes on a very high shelf in the bedroom next to the stairs. Nothing had ever been on the shelf before because no one was tall enough to see or reach the shelf. When I dusted the shelf while visiting I thought it was still

empty and just stood on tiptoes and swished the cloth across the shelf as usual. The container with Mom's ashes went flying but luckily I caught it before

it hit the floor.
A few months later spring came and dark purple tulips came up next to the door in the little garden under the mailbox. I asked Dad if that was where he put my mother's ashes, and he just turned away with tears in his eyes. When he remarried, he and his new wife decided to expand the driveway over that area. Dad said he tried to dig up the ashes to relocate them but the contained had disintegrated and Mom's ashes were merged with
