What surprised me though was the similarly-colored shape that seemed to peek out from in back of the tree about 3 feet above the base. The shape stayed there for a moment then ducked back almost entirely behind the tree leaving it's ''leg'' still visible at the base.
''did you see that? '' I asked my friend. ''holy crap! '' was her only response. The entity peeked at us again as if it were cautiously observing us. I pointed at it and stated (as

if talking to a child) ''i see you there! '' it seemed to respond by hiding again.
I walked toward the entity and it disappeared from view; we both

heard leaves rustling a bit farther away. The experience wasn't frightening at all on our way back to our car we could both feel it's presence following us; it didn't seem malicious at all...
If anything I'd assume it was just curious. I turned and said goodbye before we left the woods. After a few years of ghosthunting that was my first apparition!.
