I grew up on Mowry Avenue in the 1970s / 1980s. Our house was built in 1920. We had problem after problem including objects moving of their own accord (seen by myself and another in my family on 2 different occasions in different years) footsteps that caused us several times to think our house had been broken into and so on.
The house felt thick dark all the time; like there was someone there staring at you. There was the distinct feeling of someone else being there and when one was home alone this was particularly pronounced.

At least one of our neighbors was also having problems and on Woonsocket Hill Road there are some apartments that have apparently also had problems. I should also add this--whatever was in our house was not friendly.

The most bizarre incident occurred when I was about 6 my brother 4 and I remember it like it was yesterday: my father went to the basement one morning, and called us to come down--around the door in the basement that leads to the backyard there were packing ''peanuts'' taped into place around the entire door frame.
All windows and doors were locked no one had gotten in and my brother and I were too small to have done it. This was about the time a floor lamp started shaking all about with its shade spinning in a circle on it and then came to a complete dead stop.
It was an unpleasant house to live in.

Comment by Sara: I too grew up in north Smithfield, my family owned Christians Orchard. I remember my mom telling me stories of that same thing happening in her friends house near there. I was wondering if it is the same person.
But yes there is a lot of strange things that happen in that town. Many of the houses there I believe are haunted. I am a true believer of this story.
