The path she turned to was no wider than a game trail and there was nowhere to go but forward. But when he reached the end there was and brick wall and the river. No sign of the girl and nowhere she could have gone.

There have been sightings of a man hanging from a tree by a swamp in the northern part of Slater park. The phantom is said to vanish when approached. Sometimes it said he laughs shortly after vanishing.

I did not see the phantom but did have an encounter. One night about 10 years ago I was walking home from work around 11 pm. I decided to take a short cut through the woods despite the ghost stories and Park being closed.

As I got near the tree I got the scariest feeling. I felt all of the hair on my body stand up and my eyes began to water. I stood frozen in terror for a minute before running as fast as I could toward the road.
And then I heard a terrible evil laugh as I ran. I have never returned to that part of the park and I never will.
