I lived on Orchard Street in 1957. It was a long time ago, I know. I'm in my 80s! At the time I was newly married and rented an upstairs apartment in a large Victorian house that had been converted into two residences. There was a long steep staircase between the two levels, and a few times I felt I was being elevated or carried as I reached the top of the stairs. It's difficult to explain the sensation. I also vaguely heard the giggle of children's

voices when this happened.
My nephew who had lived in the downstairs residence at the same time period later told me before I even mentioned my

own experiences that as a little boy he would often jump from the top of the stairs to the bottom. He saw he was carried safely down by some force. He could not have jumped down this staircase on his own and survived. I always wanted to investigate the home's origins and find out if children had lived there or perhaps even died there from falling down this staircase.
