I used to live on 40th ave by the LIRR. On numerous occasions myself and two roommates all saw a black mist or shadow down the hallway. Hallway was on the third floor so outside lights were not a factor.
When I stood in the same exact area of the hall the hair on the back of my neck would stand up. Never felt threatened but there was definitely something there.

I was at the park one day when it was empty and windy. I had went to the baby swings. As a joke I climbed in. I didn't even swing but I started to slowly move. Then I heard someone laugh.

Near the throggs neck bridge is a us army fort Fort Totten. It is home of the old New York city emergency medical service Academy along with the nyfd fire Marshals and nypd use the old collaypsing buildings for k9 training.
This is a very old fort and was used also by the reserves as a base and the us coast guard. Now I think it is a nys Park though. Near the academy there is a barracks that is in bad shape and at times we were allowed to Park behind it but no one felt calm there.
