I lived in Central Valley, NY as a kid. The house we lived in was old and had been moved to its current site from another site. Along with the house was an old barn with a small attached apartment. My sister and I were driving up the driveway one afternoon when we saw what we believed to be our mother with blondish red hair. The face was fuzzy but the figure was dressed in mannish clothes, something my mother never wore.
As our car got closer,

the figure was pulled to the side of the open barn door in a diagonal manner, very abruptly. My sis and I both got out of the car, calling for our mother.

Then we went into the barn. No person inside. We looked out the barn's side door, no person outside either. There was no other way out except for the front door. No figure came out of the front door. The basement of the house and the barn's apartment also always felt horribly creepy, as if someone who was enraged was watching you. I NEVER felt at home here and was glad when we finally moved away.
