A few years before Honeoye Falls was founded as a town back in the 1700s a man named Ethan Flynn died in the waterfall there. He was swept down and bumped his head and died. He still haunts the waterfall.
If you stare into the waterfall for a long time and really focus and block everything out that's around you except the waterfall you can see the shape of him manifest itself in the waterfall. Some see him within minutes, for me it took half an hour.
