Hi I lived in upstate NY as a child. There used to be a book from Walden books called: hauntings of Tug Hill NY. The front cover showed a picture of a house with a tree stump. Not sure where the house was (I'm guessing it was at route 91 and sharp Rd).
I know it was close to Lorraine and pierrepont manor. There was also an old church and graveyard close to the house just down the hill on the corner. The story was that Harriet Tubman stayed there

at times and it was used in the underground railroad to hide slaves.
One night people attacked the house and killed many slaves, also they blew up

a tunnel that lead from the house cellar to a nearby stream, with slaves still inside. I lived in that house from age 5-7 with another family and mine.
That was a long time ago- over 35 years ago. There were a few weird things that happened there but I never saw a ghost. Everyone else saw something(s). Maybe someone can check it out and get back with me.
