I was getting a speech about the history of the plot and house. And behind me was a sound of a female child saying ''stop'' right in my ear. I turned around to see if anyone was behind me or walked passed, but no one was near at all. It's still vivid. Submitted by Brittany

My family's been living in New Paltz since the turn of the 20th century. That was back when New Paltz was one farm after the next populated by the descendants of French Huguenots and an influx of new italian immigrants.

(my family's descended from the later). You could say I'm a local. New Paltz on the whole has a unique spiritual energy. We have a large wiccan and pagan community many resident psychics and we boast one of the best awareness shops in New York state. Overall spiritually progressive thinking is pervasive here. (even our Catholic church run by Franciscan friars comparatively can be described as liberal). People have lived here for a long time. The French Huguenots ''bought'' New Paltz in 1678 from the Esopus Indians who lived here since I don't know the beginning of time? It only makes sense that we would have paranormal activity.
The following places are said to be haunted. In most cases I have known someone personally who has had experiences in these places. Huguenot Street naturally and the surrounding area from the walkill River all the way up to church Street is a hub of activity.
