There is a house in rt. 38 just a few miles north of the village of Newark Valley. It was once owned by the Chandler's who have now passed away. My best friend lived in that house and would often tell me stories about things she's experienced there.

I was hesitant to believe her until I experienced things myself. On one particular night she and I were in her upstairs bedroom talking when we both heard the distinct sound of someone walking down the long hallway.

It's an old house and the floors creak. There was no mistaking the sound. We thought it was her older brother whose bedroom was right across from hers. At first we didn't pay any attention but when we didn't hear him go into his room we started to wonder.
My friend went to her door opened it and looked out. No one was there. We shrugged it off and went back to talking. A few minutes later the sound of footsteps came down the hall again. We listened and someone knocked rapidly on her bedroom door.
My friend went to the door and no one was there. She went across the hall to her brother's room also empty. We were starting to get creeped out now. She closed her bedroom door again and we started to talk but kept our ears open.
