I am so so happy I found this story. I have been telling the story of the shadowman or black shadow man that was in my dorm room at Oneonta for years. I can't remember the name of my dorm but it was down the hill on the left as you would be coming from campus.
I attended suny Oneonta starting fall of 1992. In the spring I was awakened by the feeling of a presence in my room. I opened my eyes to find a tall solid black figure standing at the edge of my bed.

It appeared to be a tall man wearing a black cloak with a hood. It had it's ''hands'' hovering above my body but not touching me. I was literally frozen solid with fear. I had a roommate and it was a suite so there were 5 other women in the suite at the time but I couldn't even make a sound to wake them as I was so fearful.

I could feel it's hands moving above the covers although it never actually touched me. I began to pray and of all things sing ''jesus loves me''. Don't ask me why but that's what came to me at the time.
I continued to pray and sing to myself and eventually blacked out. The following morning I attributed it to a very bad night terror and tried to forget about it. My roommate was already gone for the day.
When I ran into one of my suitemates in the afternoon I told her of my experience. Her face turned pale and she said I had to talk to my roommate asap. It seems that my roommate was mad at me for having a man in the room in the middle of the night and I woke her up because we were mumbling to each other.
