My little cousin and I have grown up in Cranberry Lake, NY. We have had many occurrences with a spirit of some kind. We have not seen an actual ghost, but we've heard it at dusk and at night. We spend the night at my nana's and papa's. My papa has always said that he could hear voices or so etching in the attic. One night we were spending the night. feet downstairs. The next day I asked my papa if this place had any history to do with horses. He told me that it used to be a horse barn. I wasn't surprised

to her that. I told him all about it.

I lived in a renovated farm house on May Road Potsdam from 1976 to 1986. This house was one of five built in the early 1860s by the brothers Shaw. I know that two of these homes are haunted by ''residual'' hauntings. Not sure about the two others remaining. One home is long gone. In the home I lived in I experienced the smells of lilacs in January, sauerkraut in the cellar, the sound of piano music and a group of people singing along, the sounds of Christmas songs around the piano and some soft laughter coming from the kitchen. I researched this family and the families of the other brothers and based upon a journal kept at the time, it was easy to match these occurrences to events noted in the journal. The second farm house is haunted by events surrounding the death of one of the brothers in an accident. It involves the opening of a door inward and the sound of several people walking in. It also involves the sound of many horses and carriages and visual of faint people gathered on the porch in Victorian era garb heading for the nearby cemetery for the burial of this unfortunate man.
