One time I was in Shortsville I ate food and then drove around and then my friend Marty called me and said he saw a ghost so I left. Submitted by Paul

Perhaps history plays the greatest role when it comes to visiting Main Street Shortsville every August 11th, the anniversary of the great Lehigh Valley train wreck that claimed 29 lives on the old trestle that is less then a mile from water Street.

You see the old Stoddard building (sue's beauty shop) was the site of the makeshift morgue that held the bodies until they were prepared and identified. Whether you are a believer in the super natural or may accuse someone of a strong imagination it has been reported that on the eve of every August 11th a faint image of an elderly man holding the hand of a young child, and his teddy bear seem walk down the alley way before fading into the brick of the building.

It has also been reported that the business signs of local merchants will swing hastily creating an annoying squeaking sound despite the absence of wind. . Submitted by Anonymous
Comment by Melissa: Please correct the date of the anniversary of the Lehigh train wreck. It happened August 25th 1911.
