In the 90s I worked in a shop that occupied both floors of a small old building on Court Street. The store was on the first floor and the second floor was storage. Quite a few times when I was in there by myself I would be at the desk on the first floor and it would suddenly sound like someone was running the entire length of the building on the second floor.
The first dozen or so times it happened I would jump up and run to the stairs (the only way up there other than a very securely bolted door used for deliveries). The upstairs would be pitch black (there were no windows) and there was nobody there when I flipped on the light.

After that I just tried to ignore it but it continued all of the years I worked there.

Comment by Eve: I lived in the hotel above Empsalls in the mid 80s. I was alone in my room singing when I heard a woman begin singing with me. I ran, but as I get older I always wonder what I would have found if I'd investigated further.

I just got to Watertown, NY and I moved in with my girl friend that's not the least.. The house is haunted. At night you can hear people walking around upstairs when there is no one up there.. The other day there was a loud scream from inside the house but when we checked no one was there.
My girlfriend's cousin said she was upstairs and someone squeezed her but there was no one there. One time I was sleep and I woke up at like two in the morning and I felt like there was someone standing next to me watching me and I could not move. Then it got so hot and I was scared to death.
