My grandmother Sharon rented the apartment in the old Colonial hotel. During her time living there she has had quite a few unexplained things happen. They included random things being thrown at her bedroom door, somebody holding doors shut so nobody could get in or out, (especially the bathroom door) and what appeared to be a woman show up in the stairway leading up to her apartment. One second she was there, and the next completely gone. Also she

would find random things lying on the floor that were knocked off from the table or stand they were sitting on.

Comment by Ginny: I lived on the same floor as your grandma and knew her well. Things would disappear, and a few days later we would find the things in front of the ghost's room.

Even before the old Western Maryland viaduct became a part of the bicycle trail, people often walked on it. They walked in spite of the dangers from passing trains, poor walkways, and rickety guardrails. The local legends tell of the men who died during its construction, even going so far as to say some are entombed in the very concrete that supports the structure. Witnesses have sighted groups of men (no more than 3 or 4) standing at the point just above the Casselman River. As the walkers draw closer to the standing men, a cold wind arises, making them lower their heads and hold on to the hats atop their heads. The hikers looked up, and the men were gone. They didn't run pass them. The distance was too great for the men to have escaped eyesight by running to the other side of the viaduct. There was nothing on the ground or in the river.
