were on the floor and papers all over the place like a wind blew through. We never found out what happened, but the following day we realized it was Friday 13th that night. Ever since then strange things happened here and there. This was in the mid 80s. Submitted by Diana

When I was between the age of 8-12 there were many stories and sightings centered around the Fort Barr area of New Derry / Atlantic that are said to be ghosts or spirits. I remember the house that sat up on the hill from #3 road on the left, it had a lot of activity before it was torn down.

Story was that during the Civil War the house was used as a hospital for the wounded. When the family moved out and the house left vacant the kids in the neighborhood would go and explore, and I myself remember one night particular.

There were several of us who entered the lower part of the house, and after being in there for only a few minutes we starting hearing all kinds of noises. There was moaning, like someone was in pain, crying, talking, metal hitting on metal, walking screams, and a lot of thumps and moving objects.
A couple of the boys went upstairs to check it out and only lasted about 2 minutes up there before they both came running down and outside saying there is a one armed man chasing them. I remember looking up the stairs and seeing what looked like a figure standing at the top of the steps, and it did appear as though he was missing one of his arms. His clothing was that of the Civil War and he looked old and grizzled. He just stood there looking down at me, the feeling of sadness pain and fear seemed to surround me in that moment. So I turned and walked toward the door to leave and when I turned back he was gone.
