I have lived in Valier for sixteen years. When my daughter was about three, she had an imaginary friend named ''Shadow. '' We took it with a grain of salt and pretty much ignored her when she spoke of ''Shadow. '' It got to the point she was carrying on full conversations and interacting with well ''no one. '' In 1999 I was building my pool and hand digging the walls. I remember looking up at the swing set as my daughter was as usual carrying on a full

conversation with ''nothing. '' However, what caught my eye was that both swings, hers and the empty one, were swinging simultaneously in time. When I

looked back to take a double take the empty swing was fluttering sideways as if a small child had just jumped off it.
A week or so later I was tied up in an engine rebuild, and my daughter was bugging me, so I said to her ''why don't you play with Shadow?'' This three-year-old told me ''Shadow had to leave; she said she had to go to Brooksville, and it would take her a week to get there. '' My daughter never heard of Brookville, PA, and it would
