I live on the Maryland side of the Potomac River about 30 miles from Fredericksburg. Years ago in 1972 when I was 14 years old I was deer hunting. It was really abnormally cold and windy out that morning. I was unable to stay in my tree stand. I started walking through the woods on an old logging road I was approaching a field where I thought I might see some deer, so I was very quiet taking a few steps at a time then stopping. to the field, a man was standing there. I first thought it was a trespasser as I was the only one hunting the farm. I stood still and looked at him about

25 yards away.
He had not seen me yet and appeared to be hunting. The first thing I noticed was the length of his gun. It was very long and not a typical gun used for deer. Next I noticed he was not wearing any florescent orange. His gray coat was down to his knees, and the brimmed hat was really strange. I watched him for a couple of minutes and decided to walk over and ask why he was on our property. I made two or three steps and was more focused
