It was a dark and rainy summer night in about 2010. My brother and I had stopped at the 7-Eleven near Glen Echo Park and were returning in the direction of Massachusetts Avenue along the creek.
Due to heavy rain the creek was high, and there was sitting water on the right half of the road. Standing on the road with feet submerged in the water and under a leaning crooked tree staring at the ground a few feet in front of him was a roughly middle aged

black man in the most tattered and patched clothing I have ever seen. He was wearing an equally tattered hat. We moved into the other Lane to pass by
|
him.
In the passenger seat I was six feet from him. He appeared solid and detailed. As we watched him in the rear view mirrors, headlights of a police car came around the bend from north bound MacArthur Boulevard, and it drove straight through the figure without hitting anything. Until the last proof we both thought he was a real live human though obviously it was a surreal scene.
