Growing up my mother told me the story about ghost light road she said one day her and her friend was riding down that road around midnight when they where in there mid 20s, and when they where riding down the road out of nowhere they saw a fire ball and it hit the car she said they were spooked and hurried up and got out of there she said they never took the route again. Once again a lot of these wood areas are creepy aswell. You can defiantly tell the Eastern shore is very spooky and there are a lot of spirits that haven't told there story yet. I also believe that the famous fire that burned down the town (twice this happened) was started by two little girls out near the Sharptown/mardela area.

Old railroad road in Mardela Springs is often referred to as ghost light road by locals. A mysterious light used to be seen in the woods at night. Sightings ceased when the road was paved. The section of the road where the light was seen is the stretch between Ocean Gateway (us hwy 50) and Delmar road (state route 54). Submitted by Cpl
Comment by Charlie: I live not to far from Railroad Rd. I remember going down the road as a teenager trying to see the light, sometimes very late at night. It used to be called Ghost Light Road. My father said when he was a boy that they had actually seen this light but could not tell what it was? Some people said it was swamp gas and some said it was the ghost of a man who was killed in that area and he was carrying a lantern roaming through that area. I guess we will never know. I still go through there often and have never seen anything.
