Many years ago in December (Christmas week) around the year 2000 my husband and I camped in a cabin named Olive Green. It's located near Cunningham Falls State Park and not far from a lot of Civil War battles. It was cold on the first day of the trip and got colder by the day. By night three the temperature was below freezing, and we decided we'd leave the next morning.
The night was bitter, and we slept huddled together in an upper loft. Suddenly

in the middle of the night we heard a military man make commands and then heard what sounded like troops marching. We woke up and looked out several windows,

and no one was there.
Both of us heard it. Due to the bitter cold I don't think it was a group of people joking. The next morning we looked at the logbook for the cabin, and there were a lot of ghost stories. My husband is no longer a skeptic. .

My boyfriend and I went out to eat at the Shamrock restaurant by the highway in Thurmont. This was after dark about 8 pm. We had parked facing the road under a lamppost which clearly illuminated the grassy strip between the parking lot and highway.
