I also visited the Ahoskie light from Chowan college in the early eighties... I'm from out of state in the north was a freshman at the time and was skeptical. It's real.. I have no doubt - and as described banging on the tracks with a stone and walking toward the light definitely makes it more active. Check it out for yourself - it's worth it!. Submitted by Tiger
Comment by Clarke: Ditto. This is exactly how I experienced this during my time at Chowan. I don't know the cause, but the sightings are real. A sight to see.

Comment by Gary: I have been there at least 2 dozen times and have never not seen it. Twice the lights were accompanied by a mist-like apparition as well. I've taken skeptics here because it's the most active ghost site I've ever been to.

Comment by Chris: I was a student in the 1980s. We visited this site numerous times, and I saw this light at least seven or eight times. After moving or proceeding to follow this light down the tracks, it would appear behind us!!! Nearly forty years later, and I still cannot explain it.

I've seen that ghost light on the tracks over 20 times. I was a student at Chowan and we used to take the drunk freshman down there to see it. It's a tradition at the school and I can tell you that it's definitely real.
