I am staying at the Smoke Tree Lodge, and I'm frankly surprised at the level of activity here. It's a beautiful site, obviously not new but plenty of character. The people are absolutely lovely and warm, so there were no ''alarm bells'' there. I'll admit to being relatively ignorant about the history here other than its history of Native American habitation as is all of the states. The first day here I was aware of an odd sense of not being the only one in the room, but as I didn't feel necessarily threatened by it I ignored it.
On the first night there were unexplained noises: scratching on the carpet chirps (not bird-like), interrupted voices that ceased once I came fully awake and began again to various levels of intensity through the night. Last night (day 4) it grew more intense. There were bright flashes of light by the sink (no reflective surfaces there). The floor lamp was also going on and off. I woke up startled thinking it was my phone flashing. I got up to walk over and turn it off. Much to my chagrin the phone was on my night table. I hadn't plugged it in by the the sink. This continued until I woke again at 4:44 a.m. Of course I reported this hullabaloo at the desk this morning. When I came back to the room I acknowledged the presence of whoever remains here. Hopefully that acknowledgment will appease whoever remains here unsettled and needing attention. .

I was walking though the school yard at Banner Elk Elementary when I felt something tap my shoulder. I knew I was alone so I was a little worried when I turned around and saw no one. I just put it off and did not think about it. I went to swing on the playground because there was no one there. I did not feel like trying to push myself so I just sat there.. Then next thing I know something was pushing me. I jumped off the swing and looked all around me to find that I was all alone.. I left and came back the next day with my boyfriend Tommy... He said I was crazy and was just a little worried about being alone so I was just feeling things.. He had me convinced until I sat back down on the swing and asked Tommy to push me..
