During the cooler months I leave all my windows open, (I have screens) and one night I was awoken by an eerie voice that did not sound human. It made all the hairs on my neck stand up, and I had goose bumps all over. It was mimicking the sound of a little girl. It kept saying mama. The window was near my bed, so I could hear it very clearly. When I finally got the nerve to get up and investigate it was gone. I heard no footsteps running or even walking

away, so I know it wasn't kids messing around. The yard was covered with leaves, so I would have heard something. This happened around 3:00 am.

Another encounter was when my teenage daughter and I were on Center Hill Road one night on the way home from the super Wal-Mart in Elizabeth City. It happened near the fire station. As we were driving, we suddenly heard banging on the car. I asked my daughter ''what was that?'' Then I looked to my right to make sure she wasn't making that noise. She wasn't, and neither one of us knew what that was. When we got home there was hand prints all over the car.
