In the early 1930s, not sure of the exact year a man from Asheville named Norm Gordon who was trying to impress a local girl decided to climb the mountain in the middle of the night and shoot fireworks from the top in her honor.
He went up but he didn't come back down. They found him dead a few days later. He had stumbled in the dark and hit his head on a rock and died. If you go up to the top of the mountain now and call his name ''Norm Norm Norm'' like

that you will hear an angry voice say ''get off my mountain''.
It's not his mountain of course, never was, nit sure why he thinks that but that's what

he says.
