About 25 years ago I went to visit my sister who was living in a house off of Elm Street and close to Cornwallis in Greensboro, NC. She was renting this house with her husband and three kids. When I arrived at the house (my wife was at my side) I looked into a window on the second floor (which I later found out was my sister's bedroom. ) I saw a lady with a blue tinged aura around her. I knew quickly that this was a spirit but only mentioned it to my wife. I continued to visit my sister's home but kept my mouth shut.

A few months later I found out that my sister and some of her kids moved into my parents' house due to some serious spooky events that were occurring. When I finally met with my sister, she was a bit upset that I never told her about the ghost. I actually told her that I sensed that there were two ghosts, one upstairs and a ghost in the basement. I felt they were a woman who was waiting for someone and something dark and looming.

Over the course of her time there, her family was hearing footsteps coming up and down. They also heard furniture being moved around. Her husband was not much of a believer until the night they were laying in the bed and the door to their bedroom opened up and then closed on its own. Near the end of her time there, she called me over to the house. She said that she and a co-worker were hearing a lot of noises in her house. All of a sudden they heard a crash. When they investigated they found the basement door open and a pane from the kitchen window door (which was directly opposite to the basement door) blown outward away from the house. The door was locked.

Comment by anonymous: Interesting story about this address. I was wondering if this is the same house that received a blessing from Saint Pius X some 15 years ago. I recall an interesting account from Monsignor Anthony J. Marcaccio at Saint Pius mentioning such a house near Saint Pius where residents reported a home disturbance and requested the church to have the house blessed. I recall his account of the house having a sun room where interior doors would open and close on their own as if an invisible residence was coming and going inside the house. He had advised the people to leave right away as the moving of objects inside the house could be considered dangerous. I understand such blessings are often not done very cheerfully by many priest as in such cases such spirits will follow them home and create problems. I think in all probability this is the same house he mentioned to me.
Comment by Jim: I can totally relate to your story. I lived on Downing Street and wrote about 172X Downing Street. My sister has encountered that old woman in the Downing Street house though I did not. I don't think these ghosts are people at all or ever have been though the things that do this do mimic the dead. Fear and the ability to generate is their goal.
