without realizing it, you would end up in the Hickory Dead Zone, an area where there are no moving cars or people. He explained to me that it is like an alternate reality of Hickory. Houses would be there, and so would parked cars but no life or movement other than the wind. If you were still alive after a few hours, you would be put back in reality.

I just thought of it as another road in Hickory, but now I know the truth. Obviously, the Hickory Dead Zone may be more fact than myth, but only a select

few of the Hickory residents know about this legend. In other words, a lot of people are unaware of it. I really do think that Jordan and I had entered it on that very night. Just one thing confuses me, still. What did my grandpa mean by ''If you were still alive, then you could come back to reality''? I may never know the answer. Gramps is dead, and I haven't heard from Jordan in years.
