Well I ran to my brother, and we both asked at the same time if we heard a noise. We both said yeah and went into my room. I had had a book on my dresser, and it was gone. The next day I looked under my bed, and there it was right next to the wall. My mom later told me it could've been the ghost of my uncle Johnny. He never got a chance to have a daughter, and he wanted to get my attention. The same thing happened when his sons, my mom's nephew,

lived there.

I grew up in Hickory but moved out of town when I grew up and married an out-of-towner. I haven't been back much lately but when I grew up there there were always rumors of a ghost down on Main Ave that would roam the streets at night.
Rumor was that it was an old soldier from the Civil War. He was a deserter who had wandered off and was drifting around. He drifted through Hickory and someone found out he was a deserter and took the law into his own hands and shot him.
Like I said this was a long time ago and I don't know if he still haunts Hickory or if he's moved on.
