When I was 15 years old my cousin Larry and I were walking around a pond that had been dug out of a swampy area known to locals as the Sandbat. As we approached the bank which had merkel bushes on it Larry noticed someone sitting with his feet in the water and his arms resting on his knees.
We thought this was a friend of ours because of his curly hair. We called out but got no answer, so I started down the bank to see if anything was wrong. I got about

three feet from him when he turned and looked over his shoulder, he had no nose or mouth, just eyes.
I am not saying this was a ghost, he was normal

in every respect right down to the blue jeans he was wearing... But he was no living man. I've been frightened a few times in my life but this still spooks me.
This creature whatever it was made no menacing gestures that I know of as me and my cousin ran away in panic I guess. This phenomenon has never been seen by anyone else that I know of. This pond is located about 1 block off the Ocean Isle Beach Road behind the fire dept.
