The place you stopped at was an old church that closed in the 1970s. It is indeed a place of legend though it was torn down many years ago as it was considered unsafe as a building, and concerns were it might be used as a playhouse or a crack house. In April of 2013 I was driving on US 15 in Pittsboro. I was heading north. It was very late at night and I felt I was getting too sleepy to drive further so I decide I would take a short nap. There was a small turn to my left so I pulled over there. At the corner there was a what looked like an abandoned church or house. No one was around, I locked my doors and started to doze off. Then all a sudden I was awakened by a loud knock on my side door the passenger side. I woke up looked around and saw no one. I looked towards the abandoned building and I saw an orb moving really fast in there. I didn't wait to find out what it was. I was so awake and scared. I left right away but I still wonder what that knock on my car was.
