One night while driving home to Waynesville from the Bethel area on 276 after attending a Christmas party I saw a woman walking on the side of the road. It was very cold that night, and it started to snow. The woman had on black pants or a skirt. I just saw the fabric moving and a shawl over her head. I was worried when I saw her as it was 4:00 a.m., and it was frigid outside. I was the only car on the road. I decided to stop. I looked down to put my

car in park in the middle of the road and put on my hazard lights. When I looked up she was gone.
I got out of my car and looked all around and

in both ditches on the side of the road. She was nowhere to be seen. I drove on home that night and called the friend that hosted the party the next day. My friend's father knew exactly what I was talking about and said the lady has been seen by numerous people. The story behind her is that she lived in the house on the hill on 276, and her husband had a heart attack one night. She went walking for help and was struck by a vehicle and died. Still gives
