I used to live in a house on Hammond Street, and I would drive on Main Street to get to work every night. I worked night shift for 2 years. On one particular night at around midnight as I was turning right from Hammond onto main I saw a man dressed in an overall like the one a miner would.
He was walking along side the railroad with a bucket on one hand and a lantern like object on the other. I drove that route all the time, and usually no one would be

out. That night was special because this man was very tall and his light was very bright.
I slowed down and was trying a get a good glimpse of him.

He saw me since he lifted his light up and wave at me and smile. I waved back. Then he disappeared, just like that. I did some research and learned that back in the 1850s there was a historic gold mine here in Mc Cormick.
Maybe that miner still lived his old days mining.
