The Victorian house on East Main Street has been razed some 40-odd years, but memories of the various activities manifested therein live on. In the back yard was a cemented pond that had fish that no doubt attracted the very young child who slipped, fell in, and died circa 1920s. For the next forty years a child was seen running through the home's back porch, especially during the bad electrical storms Rock Hill used to have with great frequency in the

summer.
Knockings heard here and there weren't the sounds of an old house settling; they always came in threes and mostly downstairs near a back
|
stairwell and the adjacent hallway and rooms. When the home's upstairs rooms were used as a boarding house, one of the roomers literally dropped dead as he was halfway up the stairs in the late 60s. He could be heard previously in his room making noises such as walking heavily and kicking off his work boots. His noisemaking restarted a few weeks after his passing. The room was locked.
