cats had all picked those steps to recline upon- now, that's a photo opportunity no cat-lover would pass up! There was one on the top step, two on the next, three crowded on the next to bottom step and one cat on the fourth, bottom step. No, I'm not miscounting. Let me add that the cat on bottom was looking up at the third cat on the step above it, the grey transparent kitty that wasn't seen by the photographer who took the picture but is clearly

visible as a cat-shaped anomaly in the final product. I'll never forget that picture. Submitted by Anonymous

One of the old Victorian-style near-mansions that went the way of history that I recall was on the corner of East White Street directly across from the Greene Funeral Home. In fact its former location is now Greene's parking area across from their front entrance. In 1960 I lived there with my parents and grandmother and recall the following happenstance.
It started with a feeling my grandmother had while in her bedroom. She felt like she wasn't alone and genuinely believed she was being watched. This was odd, and she didn't say anything about it, even when she started seeing a shape in one particular corner of the room. It was just her imagination; she believed as she later told us and shook it off. From feeling a presence to seeing something was over a period of a month or more. Then came the kicker.
My mother went to ask my grandmother something and entered her room and gasped (or screamed, I really don't recall which) when she saw for herself a dark shadowy image of a man dressed like someone from the turn of the 20th century who looked her way and vanished right then. Now my grandmother shared her misgivings about the presence, realizing she wasn't going crazy. Mr. Shadow may have persisted there, I don't know, and may even be there to this day looking into cars. We have no idea because we moved away shortly thereafter.
