My mom took me to the cemetery in Williamston that had a haunted tombstone. The story goes that a mean old man haunts his tombstone. The legend is that a mean rich old man was hated by the town because he was greedy and had to have the last word on everything. Nobody liked to talk to him. One day a carriage and horse went wild and ran over the man. The old man's family buried him and placed a fancy tombstone on his grave. One day an image of a horse head

popped up on the tombstone. The whole town talked about it till they took that stone away and got a bigger stone. It wasn't long that the horse head popped

up on the new stone, and it remains there to this day. My mom and grandma took me there, and I heard a horse running, and some say they hear a man screaming. True story. Submitted by Virginia
Comment by Robin: I was curious about this, so I searched online. Your submission is about the tombstone of James W. Huff (1849 - 1901) in Williamston Cemetery.
