If you go up Ruffin Mill road from 95 it become very winding and narrow. This part is locally known as ''Snake Road''. If you park on the narrow part on the bridge next to ruffins' pond there is a great ghost hunting place.
I've heard a few different stories but the version I remember is if you shout into the lake ''I have your baby'' three times the mother will appear to retrieve her child. Also automobiles are known to malfunction.

Comment by westward bound: I used to live in Hopewell, VA. And when I was young we heard of this story. From what I understand there was an old house on snake road right next to the pond on the hill and her child disappeared never to be found and I believe she committed suicide.
When we went to check it out I thought it was fake at first till I started being mouthy about it. We saw a fog form on the far side of the pond come across and cover the car and bridge. My buddy had started to panic when the car wouldn't start for real and we could see darkness move around the car for about 3 min till I spooked and admitted I was lying.
Suddenly the fog lifted and the car started so we got out to look and there were finger and hand prints all around the car, mostly by the handle of the door I was by so we left quickly!.
Comment by AJ: Tonight I went there just to check it out. I got out the car and heard footsteps in the woods. I walked to the bridge where the family died, and I heard a female voice near the water. Me, my friend, and my sister bolted back to the car, and we heard a low growl. Yea, stuff definitely happened over there, and I believe it is haunted but not violent.
