When I first got married I lived in Danville in one of the old mill houses on West Hughes Street. The year was 1978. Lots of strange things happened, but the weirdest was the water turning on by itself. It didn't just turn on and trickle, it came on full blast. I would walk out of the kitchen, turn around to go back into the kitchen, and the sink faucet would be running as if both taps had been fully opened.
I was afraid to stay there by myself

at night as it always had a weird vibe to it. In talking to my neighbors, I found out that a man had been shot to death by his girlfriend in the apartment

next to ours. He was in his chair watching TV and said something to her, and she shot him. My neighbor had seen the crime scene when the rescue squad arrived, so he knew that it had really happened in that apartment.
I always figured that the ghost was that guy, and that he was just trying to let me know he was there because he never did anything that hurt me.
