I witnessed a white mist float down the stairs into the living room. A couple of days before Christmas I was home alone with the dogs (we recently adopted again) I heard a muffled sneeze coming from upstairs and both dogs turned to look but neither one would go up.
The dogs often alert on things that none of us can see. This house is proving to be very active!. Submitted by Dkh
Comment by Lil: Three children perished in a house fire in GW Village during the 1960s... Maybe 1965 -1967. It was devastating. A young boy also died in the creek by the playground by drowning.

Comment by Kara: My dad (Kehm Swinford) and grandparents were stationed at Ft. Belvoir and lived in River Village at the time of the house fire of 1967 on Potomac Loop in George Washington Village. While he and my grandparents and uncle were on their way to church Saturday January 27th, 1967 they came upon the house fire and witnessed the horrible tragedy. The fire trucks weren't even there yet. To this day it still makes him cry to the point he can't talk about it and gives him extreme goose bumps. He remembers the mother and oldest child jumping from the second story window: mother first and child after. The father was out front of the home screaming for his children and the sound of the younger two trapped in the house. Saddest story he has ever shared with us. He was only eight when this happened. The memories have haunted him for the last 50 years. My grandmother testified at a witness to this fire when the court called for witnesses to the cause of the fire. Very very tragic. This blog is the only place I've been able to find anything about this event or other details related to it. If you have any other references, could you please share. Thank you. .

Years ago we lived in River village on patomac loop in the duplexes. The building next to us had one side empty foe a long time which was very odd given the waiting list. Finally a family moved in with a daughter.
