During the summer of 2003, the family and I transferred from RI to Norfolk, VA where I received orders to the USS Eisenhower. Due to the lack of (military) housing in Norfolk, we were offered housing at Fort Monroe and subsequently agreed to move in. Anyone that has ever been in or lived in that housing knows that the inside is very dated. The kitchen sink was large and made of cast iron. There was not a place for the washer discharge, so one had to put the

hose into the kitchen sink anytime you washed clothing. The dining room was very small compared to the size of dining tables that are made today (very
|
little room to spare. ) The house had hard wood floors throughout and very small closets.
As the weeks and a couple of months went by after moving in, the wife and I would be lying in bed at night or early morning and hear the toilet flush. At that time our three kids were 7, 4, and 2 years of age. Being young, you know when they got up or moved about because they were never quiet, and so that made the wife and I look at each other and wonder. This
