I will now tell this because the army is no longer there. I worked at ft. Monroe for 12 years. The most haunted place on base is the house that sits inside the fort ( moat) beside the church.
It was off limits to all. Nobody lived there the whole time I worked there and they still do not. Colonel told me a death happened in the house many many years ago. This house is up for rent.
It was the best kept secret of hauntings on the base until now. Buyer beware !!.|

I was 8 years old and I was at a concert when I decided to walk to the fort with my two brothers and my grand mother. As we looked at the fort a little girl in a white dress about 7 years old appeared behind us and started to talk about why we are so interested in the old thing.
Then she left and as we looked back she went behind a tree and didn't come out. We walked over to the tree and there was no one there. We looked around and there were no parents and we never saw her again.
