the road. He wasn't looking directly at me but more just past me and smiling, not maliciously but as if he was amused. I gasped, and he vanished into thin air.
My husband asked what was wrong, and I couldn't even speak. I just wanted to get into the car and get out of there. I really have never believed in ghosts but can't explain this. I wish that he had stayed long enough for me to take his picture though I must admit I was so dumbfounded.

I recently moved to Louisa, VA not far from Gordonsville. My fiancé and I went to this place late one night, so he could evaluate and write a proposal for some tree work that needed to be done there. I wanted to stay in the truck while he walked up to the 100 years old tree that stood in the backyard of the Exchange Hotel.
I would look at him for a few minutes and looked away for maybe three or four seconds. When I looked back, there was a woman in a dark dress with long brunette hair standing very close to him with her arm around his back and mid section. His mannerism along with the way she was reacting led me to believe that they were having a conversation.
Upon returning to the truck, I asked who he was talking to. He gave me the look of a confused dog and replied ''nobody why?'' I explained what I had seen along with the Confederate soldier crouching down playing with a bush to the right of the exchange's steps. After a few moments I asked if we could leave because I had the growing feelings of pain and sorrow.
