The car was an infinity and had a rear-shooting camera with a monitor in the dash for the driver to watch his reversing. Suddenly, on the monitor screen I saw a man looming into my path. He was bearded, wore a slouch hat and a Civil War uniform--like a re-enactor.
My wife, who was simultaneously watching out the back window shouted ''stop! You're going to hit him! '' my foot was already slamming down on the brake. My eyes on the monitor, I wanted

to see if I'd stopped in time.
He was still standing but right at the bumper. Then he dissolved. It was as if he'd taken form in the exhaust from my

vehicle, because that's what was left in wisps in the air. Neither my wife and I said anything for a few seconds that seemed quite long, then I asked her: ''where was his hand? '' and she said, ''holding the top of his sword.
'' that is exactly what I saw: a Civil War officer with his hand on the Hilt of his sword. I would love to know if anyone else has ever seen this apparition. .
