Re: route 666 or old Elkton road in Forest.. When I was born my parents worked for a lady named Mrs. Brockenborough on a dairy farm .. It was called the ''west place'' by my father as she owned another dairy farm on old Forest road @ Lynchburg..

Anyway the road back then was known asthe 'cinderbed road'' as I think cinders from the4 trasins werre used to 'pave' it... There is an old brick mansion near the end bridge known as west manor and it was built back in the 1800s... It used to have many old boxwoods and gardens. But the new owners have removed them and the old barns and had / have a bed n breakfast and use it for wedding receptios etc.. Anyway I did a little researchand seems the 'west' name caqme from a Civil War 'col.
West'' and I suspect it was a large plantation back in those days... I believe Mrs. Brockenborough was a descendant from this colonel west.... As for ghosts I never saw one but we kids were forbidden to enter or play too close to the west manor house...
